Dispassionate about Malaysia

(2015 edit: I’m not going to edit my initial reaction, but I’ve met so many wonderful community members in Malaysia. I hope you take no offense at my offensive over-generalization.)

Seriously, what should I do for the next few hours. I have tasks, but I don’t want to do any of them. They’re boring me. But I’ve got 3.5 hours to kill until I have to go to the airport and leave this god awful country behind. I’m in Malaysia, I don’t like it. I’ve been in Kuala Lumpur for several weeks now, and I don’t mean to be negative, but this country is a shithole. I know what you’re thinking, “Hey, you’ve been in KL, what about the rest of Malaysia?” Well, I’ve been there too, all over the place, and this country is a shithole. White people get beaten up and robbed, which could happen anywhere, but when it happens systematically it’s called a scam. The police treat the victims like it’s their own fault and try to make them sign documents written in Malay, and it’s not a second hand story – this fucking happened! Ok, it didn’t happen to me, it happened to my husband, but still. KL is an ugly city that is completely void of any sort of Malay culture, if Malay culture even exists anymore. They’re trying so hard to be Western that they’ve washed away anything that would make the city charming. As we traveled around Malaysia we tried to see the good, and took some pictures of some good stuff. But for me Malaysia gets a “disappointing” rating and is struck from my desired vacation destination list.

I can’t even rant properly because I’m so dispassionate about the whole thing. Instead of ranting, here’s some images of the non suck in this suck hole.
